A shrine unto itself, where Burns, Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street all come together at the bottom of Indian Mounds Park, you’ll find Obb’s Sports Bar & Grill. Originating in 1919 as a grocery & feed store, the building underwent re-modeling around 1931, and became one of the first of 10 bars in St. Paul to be licensed after the repeal of the Prohibition. Here it remains after 51 years, until it changed hands in 1982. Now it’s back in the ownership of the original family, the Johnsens. Even though Bob Johnsen and his Brother Glenn retired in 1982, Rose (after 45 years) is still working at Obb’s, and has no plans of retiring. Jim, son of Bob and Rosie, currently owns Obbs, however he still insists that Roise “Is the Boss”.

The Johnsens are now working hard to maintain the quality and service thier customers have learned to expect. We hope that the Obbs’ atmosphere is still that of an old time bar, complete with excellent service, and tradition that will remain for years to come.
